I keep getting messages that a file couldn’t be found. It should be h1.gif in /images. I checked and indeed there is no such file in the directory.

Keith Says:

Hi Edwin,

I’m assuming you’re getting these messages by email. Those messages are there to inform you of broken links as well as broken images.

The message should also tell you what page the broken link or image is on. Go to that page and see if you can find a broken image.

The Christmas Gifts theme doesn’t use an image called h1.gif, so the broken image is probably in one of your posts - or possibly a plugin.

If this doesn’t solve the problem, then send me an email with the exact error message.

Keith Says:

Carrie,
No plans for a 3 column version at the moment. But I do pay attention to requests, so I may do something like that in the future.

Lacey,
At the moment, the only other theme I have available is Vermilion Christmas. But I plan on doing more themes in the future.

Thank you, both, for your comments!

Edwin Says:

My previous problem is solved :)

Now I’m getting another error though. It looks to me like it’s in 404.php.
If someone gets to my blog, I get send the error message:
http://www.bookieboy.co.uk/blog/blog/wp-includes/js/prototype.js
when my blog is at www.bookieboy.co.uk/blog

so the script adds a /blog/ too many in it :(

Keith Says:

Hi Edwin,

I created a different 404 file. Download it here.

Unzip it then upload the new 404.php file to your server. This should solve all the problems you’re having.

Let me know how it goes.

This is beautiful theme!
Thank you for your work.

I have one problem.

I want to show page navigator.
but It seems…
navigation.php is not worked.

Thanks
Masahiro

14. 14
Keith Says:

Hi Masahiro,

A lot people are using this theme, but this is the first time I know of that the navigation isn’t working. I know the code works on other sites so I don’t know what the problem may be.

Do you have any plugins installed that could be interfering with the page navigation?

Here’s something you might want to try.

Copy the code that’s in navigation.php and paste it into home.php, archive.php and search.php. Be sure to paste it right where the php include is that inserts the contents of navigation.php. The include code should be deleted.

If you need precise instructions on how to do this, just let me know.

Masahiro Says:

Hi Keith,

Thank you for your comment.

My problem is solved.

I changed keywords in nagigation.php

I used ‘next_posts_link()’
instead of ‘next_posts_link()’ and ‘previous_posts_link()’

and navigation is worked.

a cause of this problem maybe ‘next_posts_link()’ is not worked.

My Wordpress version is 2.0
I Think it is version problem.

Thank you.

This is a lovely theme, I have it up right now. One problem, though: I’d like to install inline trackbacks. I’ve tried to put the code into the main index template-because that’s where it goes on every other theme I’ve worked with.

But I can’t get the trackbacks to appear on the front of the posts. Can you give me a hint as to how to work this one out?

22. 22
Keith Says:

Hi Cao - inline trackbacks, is that a plugin? Please post a link to where I can get more info about it, then I’ll try to figure out what the problem is. Also if there is a working demo, post a link to that as well.

I absolutely love this them. You did a wonderful job, the balance is perfect. Although i am having a problem with the header image. In ie, it shows up but, clipped at the bottom and in firefox it doesn’t show at all.
This is very frustrating. If you have any ideas to why this happening please help me. I checked the image link and it appears to be correct.

thank you.
Happy Holidays

24. 24

Thank you for that nice design! However, it says that there are three different header images but I can only find one. Did I do sth wrong?

25. 25
Keith Says:

Hi Lorrie - thanks for the compliments!

I think the header image on your site is damaged. I downloaded the the header from your site and opened it in Photoshop. When I did, Photoshop gave me a message that said, “This document may be damaged (the file may be truncated or incomplete). Continue?”

I also checked the other header images on your site and found that they were damaged as well. Plus, there were 3 more than there were suppose to be.

Right now, I have no idea how that happened, but I suggest downloading the theme again, deleting all the old header files and uploading the ones from the fresh download.

Let me know if the problem persists.

26. 26
Keith Says:

Hi Kingsizefairy - I just checked your images folder and all 3 images are there. The file names are header-1.jpg, header-2.jpg and header-3.jpg.

Let me know if you need help switching to the other headers. Although they’re all pretty similar - just different variations of the same header.

Hello,
I’m in need of help. I am trying to design a blog for our local Arts Council for the very first time. I have no experience, but have tinkered with this WordPress a little over the past few days. I have put together a few things and I think it’s okay for a beginner so far. Here is the big question. I used the Vermillion template. Now I’m wondering if…after Christmas I will have a problem changing templates. Is it a matter of just choosing one and that’s it or is it a big deal. Any suggestions. I know I’m pathetic. Currituck Arts Council

37. 37
Keith Says:

Hi Sharon,
You won’t have any problems changing themes, but any changes you made to the Vermilion theme files will not show up in other themes.

Hi Keith,

Your Christmas gifts theme is perfect for a Christmas site I’m working on. I just wanted to know how it handled Wordpress 3. I downloaded it and installed it, but it seems to have trouble handling the photos on my site. It doesn’t wrap the text around them. Do you happen to know if there is a workaround for this?

Thanks and Merry Christmas!

Keith Says:

Hi Steve,
Try adding this to style.css

img.alignright {float:right; margin:0 0 1em 1em}
img.alignleft {float:left; margin:0 1em 1em 0}
img.aligncenter {display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto}
a img.alignright {float:right; margin:0 0 1em 1em}
a img.alignleft {float:left; margin:0 1em 1em 0}
a img.aligncenter {display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto}

Hi Keith,

Thanks. That was helpful.

Best wishes,
